1. Introduction

Vanim (“Application”, “App”) is developed and operated by vanim.ai (“Company”, “we”, “our”, “us”), based in Bengaluru, India. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal and non-personal data when you use our App or related services. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of information as described here. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and applicable Indian data-protection principles.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Vanim mobile application and related services offered by Vanim through the domain vanim.ai and affiliated platforms. It covers data collected automatically or through third-party SDKs used in the App.

3. Definitions (Simplified)

Personal Data: Any data about an individual who is identifiable by or in relation to that data (e.g., device identifiers, IP address).

Processing: Any operation performed on personal data, such as collection, storage, or deletion.

Data Principal: The individual user of the App.

Data Fiduciary: vanim.ai, which determines how and why personal data is processed.

4. Information We Collect

Vanim is designed to minimize data collection, but we do collect limited account and service data needed to provide login and support features. Depending on how you sign in, we may collect:

  • Account profile data such as display name
  • Email address and/or phone number
  • Login provider information when you sign in using Google or Apple (such as provider user ID and verified email made available by the provider)
  • Support submissions, feedback, and account deletion requests sent through forms or email

We may also automatically collect certain technical information when you use the App, including:

  • Device information (model, operating system, version)
  • IP address (for analytics and security)
  • App usage data (pages/screens visited, time spent)
  • Crash logs and performance diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Advertising identifiers (for non-personalized ad display)
  • Analytics data (aggregated and anonymized)

We may contact users through registered email, phone, or in-app channels for service notices, support, account verification, and optional product-improvement inputs such as feedback requests, surveys, or beta participation.

5. Purpose of Data Collection

We process data only for the following purposes:

  • Account creation and authentication - to create and secure user accounts using email, phone, Google login, or Apple login.
  • App functionality and maintenance - to ensure stability, fix crashes, and improve performance.
  • Analytics - to understand generic app usage patterns (no user profiling).
  • Non-personalized advertising - to display ads through Google AdMob; no interest-based targeting is performed by us.
  • User support - to respond to feedback or technical issues.
  • Product improvement communication - to request feedback, surveys, or feature input that helps improve user experience.
  • Legal compliance and security - to prevent misuse and ensure lawful operation.

We do not sell or trade user data.

6. Legal Basis and Consent

Our processing is based on user consent and on legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act, including processing necessary to provide account access and requested services. You may withdraw consent for certain communications at any time by contacting us (see Section 13), and you may request account deletion as described in Section 11.

7. Children’s Privacy

Vanim is suitable for users aged 3 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors or display personalized advertising to children. All advertisements are served by Google AdMob, which enforces its own child-appropriate ad policies. If you believe a child under 18 has provided personal data, please contact us, and we will delete it promptly.

8. Data Storage, Retention, and Security

  • Technical and analytics data are retained by our processors (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) for up to 90 days by default.
  • Data is processed and stored on Google Cloud servers, which may be located outside India.
  • We apply encryption in transit (HTTPS/SSL), restricted access controls, and secure system configurations.
  • No sensitive personal information is stored on our own servers.

9. Third-Party Services

We rely on third-party services that process limited technical data under their own privacy policies:

  • Google Play Services
  • Google AdMob (Non-Personalized Ads)
  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics

These services may collect device identifiers, analytics metrics, or crash logs. You can review their privacy terms on their respective websites.

10. Cross-Border Data Transfer

Some of the above third-party processors may store or process data on servers located outside India. Such transfers are performed in accordance with applicable Indian laws and Google’s privacy safeguards.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain automatically collected data only for as long as needed for analytics or troubleshooting (typically ≤ 90 days). Account-related data (such as login identifiers) is retained for as long as your account is active or as required for legal and security obligations. You may request deletion of data linked to you using our Delete Account Request form or by emailing our Grievance Officer. We will respond within 7 business days.

12. User Rights

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data processed by us
  • Request correction or deletion of such data
  • Withdraw consent to data processing
  • Opt out of non-essential product feedback or survey communication
  • Lodge a grievance regarding misuse of data

You can exercise these rights by contacting our Grievance Officer.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India as per the DPDP Act.

14. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users by email or in-app notice and, where required, inform the Data Protection Board of India without undue delay.

15. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice to reflect changes in our data practices, third-party services, or legal obligations. The latest version will always be available within the App and on vanim.ai. Your continued use of the Vanim app after any changes constitutes your acknowledgment and acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy and other company policies. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

16. Governing Law

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
